A transfer prints everything in the file — including the background you didn't want. AI removal cuts your subject out of busy photos and scenes with a press-clean edge.
Photos, product shots, mascots on gradients, artwork scanned from paper — anything where the subject sits on a background that isn't a single flat color. The AI removal generates several candidate cutouts from different segmentation passes; you pick the one that reads best and keep working.
On screen, a slightly rough cutout is invisible. On a DTF transfer it is physical: every leftover pixel gets white-ink backing and presses onto the garment as material you can see and feel. A halo of half-transparent background pixels becomes a faint film ring around your design; a ragged edge becomes a ragged press. That is why the cutout's transparency channel — not just its look — is what we optimize and validate.
Your chosen cutout becomes the working version of the artwork: pricing re-measures against the new contour (usually cheaper — less area), the printed edge re-derives from the clean alpha, and every later tool works from the cutout. The original stays untouched in your library.
Upload the photo and open Remove Background in the studio — you'll get candidates to compare in seconds.
