Up-Res — AI upscaling to print resolution

Most uploads are screen-resolution. Print needs more. Up-ressing raises your artwork toward 300 DPI at print size — free, in one click, right in the studio.

01

What up-ressing is

Up-ressing (AI upscaling) rebuilds your artwork at a higher resolution using a model trained to reconstruct edge detail — not just stretch pixels. A 1,000-pixel logo becomes a 4,000-pixel print file with edges that stay crisp when the transfer is pressed at full size. Simple enlargement blurs; up-res reconstructs.

When raster artwork (PNG, JPEG, WebP) lands below the print-resolution bar, the studio offers a resolution increase — one click in the Up-Res panel runs it, the result is ready for review in about half a minute, and you always choose whether to use it.

02

Why 4× is the safe limit

Quality ceiling

Upscaling models invent detail, and invention has a trust budget. At 2× and 4× the reconstruction stays faithful to your art. Push past that and the model starts guessing — edges waver, textures smear, and small text grows artifacts that print as visible defects. We route each file to the factor (2× or 4×) whose output lands nearest the print target, and we never exceed 4× — a hard quality line, not a technical one.

03

What we do for you along the way

Raw AI output is not press-ready on its own, so the pipeline finishes the job: de-fringing collapses the semi-transparent halo that upscaling leaves around edges — on a transfer, that halo would press as a faint film outline around your design. Anti-alias channel cleanup re-snaps the transparency channel so an edge pixel either prints or it does not — nothing in between. Print validation then checks the finished file against the same rules our production RIP applies. All automatic; you just see the finished candidate.

Try it on a low-res file

Upload the artwork you have — the studio measures it, offers a resolution increase when it would help, and shows you the before/after to approve.
